Home Hobbies My Job Curriculum Vitae

My first and primary hobby is MOTORCYCLES I've loved um since the day I first rode a Yamaha FS1E (DX model please), for those of you that don't know, it was a 50cc moped and the DX model had  front disc brakes no less. It was rivalled only by the Suzuki AP 50, which had an added advantage of a 5 speed box where the Yam could only muster 4. That bike was my first taste of independence, and to this day if I'm feeling stressed. I reach for the lid, put on with the gear and my current BEAST is fired into life for an hour of shear adrenaline, all within legal limits of course. I mean that, if I'd had the bikes I've got now when I was 17. The chance of me being here now would be low. I suppose with age comes maturity and the realisation that it really hurt if you get it wrong, and these are words of experience. Now to it, my current babies (bikes not children) are a rather tasty Suzuki GSXR600, with a few sensible tweaks. She is affectionately known as the BEAST so named by my 4 year old daughter, and a rather battered XS250 which is 25, and nearly as old as my wife. This ones uneffectionatly known as the OLD NAIL, but it carries me to work every day, and in the last 2 years has only failed me once. I've failed her at least twice in icy conditions but thankfully no serious damage to me or the bike.

This is my current BEAST a 97 Suzuki GSXR600
(not the actual bike I got this image off the web)

This bike handles like its on rails, but be careful on those early
Sunday morning runs, let the sun burn the dew off the roads
before you really let the fun begin! These bike are 4 Cylinder
4 strokes, that behave a rev like 2 strokes, so she's happy to spin
to 13,000rpm before flicking up your left foot. But be careful you
only need to hit that in third gear and your looking  at 3 points
on your licence if the men in blue spot you.

And one of these two is what the BEAST will be traded for, if  I can raise the dosh.

The Honda VTR1000, V twin and more grunt than your Granddad
after 40 years of smoking Woodbines.

The Suzuki TL1000S, nice bike but second choose over the VTR.

( Oh well maybe next year)

P.S. If anybody out there is interested in swapping their VTR or TL for my GSX let me know, I will be interested.
